A fully operational butchery. The seed that grew and that has become the Boer and Butcher of today derived from a passion for natural healthy farming methods, a love for the countryside, its people, culture and values.
In 2009 we started operations in a traditional ‘vleiskamer’ (farm style butchery) constructed somewhere in the 1916’s on our livestock farm in the Darling/Hopefield area in the Western Cape. We wanted to share this passion with friends and families in the city that understood and appreciated the value of old school natural rearing methods.
Thanks to the organic growth from our humble beginnings back in July 2009 from the farm, we are now proud in providing this service through our retail outlets in Cape Town. As we continue to provide you with home grown produce directly from the farm we can assure the best value that money can buy in and around the Cape.
We welcome all our new friends.
A group of Cape colonists who fled Europe for a free life in Africa allied themselves to the Boer Republics during the South African War of 1899-1902. They rose in rebellion against the colonial government fighting against “their own” for freedom alongside the local Boers. These men and woman were known as the Cape Rebels. As it is in life… you will be remembered by what you stood for, so with every swig of this bottle we salute those who paid the ultimate price for the freedom they sought. Prost!
